Once a week I open up my private home, a historic 1632 windmill, to share with small groups of visitors. As the miller of this historical monument, I am happy to offer this unique and authentic Dutch experience, off the usual tourist track.

I will pick you up at Alkmaar's town square in a vintage boat from 1930: one of the few boats that can fit under the unique low bridges of the surrounding canals. We'll sail about 30 minutes through Alkmaar, dive under the bridges and see the sights from the most beautiful angle there is. During the trip I will share tips and stories from a local's perspective.

 

Upon arrival at the mill you will enjoy refreshments, nature, animals and of course, a tour of our working mill. You'll also get a glimpse back in time at the 3rd floor museum, filled with treasures from the region's rich history.

 

With a group of no more than 12 people, I can make this a very personalized experience.

At the end of the tour, I will travel by boat back to the city center.

These tours are exclusive: offered  only on Saturdays from April-August.

Alkmaar is a nice, short day trip from Amsterdam.
